The gel is designed to protect skin from friction and chaffing by forming a silky breathable film BUT I use it as an oily skin mattifier. It contains mostly silicones which create the silky smooth feel and mattify the skin surface.

I use it on my face to mattify oily skin or even put it on top of oily looking creams or sunscreens. I have been using it for months and it does an excellent job without clogging my pores - I have acne prone oily skin and with the gel on my skin looks like normal. That is a makeup effect - I don't believe the gel actually improves my skin, it just makes it look good. At night I remove it with a simple face wash since I don't want it to pile up day after day.

Other producst that contain silicone bases like that usually have much higher prices without doing anything significantly different ...

serves as excellent mattifier on top of any cream/lotion/sunscreen, doesn't clog pores
