Details
I'm a black female who suffered with sudden hair loss at age 19 accompanied by extreme itching and pain of the scalp (mostly the back and crown). Also dandruff at times. I lost approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of my hair density and have never since had any significant filling in of these thinned areas. I saw many doctor with minimal relief. After sextensive research I determined I likely had seborrheaic dermatitis. By the time I was in my mid 20's I finally was able to get my condition under control mostly using frequent shampooing (various medicated types). Also I cut off all my hair and ceased all chemical processing. I believe this is what helped me to get my condition into remission along with Dr. Flood's treatments. I heard about Dr. Flood through the "grapevine" of other women suffering with the same problem. They talked about the steroid scalp injections and how they make your hair grow back. This was my main motivation for seeing him. My initial consult with him I believe was very thorough. He doesn't talk much and he moves quickly as he has a whole lot of clients (women like me lined up). But he examined my scalp thoroughly under magnification and light. I believe he plucked a hair and examined it under a microscope. I explained my condition from start to finish and various treatments I had and my response to them. He felt that my deep inflammation could benefit from the steroid injections. I began them immediately and received them every 6 weeks faithfully. I wondered why no other dermatolgist did this for me as my inflammation caused me to scratch and dig until I had blood under my nails. I pressured him to give me a time frame for when I could see some hair regrowth. He estimated 6-8 months. He answered this and other questions that other dermatologists seemed to avoid. He reassured me that my hair follicles were all not dead. I believed him because the injections stung so much they brought tears to my eyes. He'd take an alcohol swab and clean my scalp in the problem areas (my front and side hairlines, and my crown mostly). Then he'd use a tiny needle and syring, draw up the steroid, and start "stabbing" me all over my scalp. Maybe I should use the word "pricking". He did it very quickly which I guess is good. After a few months and with close examination he said he could see some new hairs growing. I couldn't see them and they were probably peach fuzz. I'd use the steroid ointment concoction he prescribed not as instructed (it was very gooey) but only when I had flare ups (usually seasonally or during stress). I eventually stopped seeing him after reading about how topical steroids can thin the skin and other long term effects. Many women I who saw him saw results, but I didn't see him until going for years with inadequate treatment. I believe the injections got my inflammation into remission. I haven't seen a dermatologist in at least 4-5 years and am still in remission with rare minor bouts of the inflammation. I opt for natural approaches in my health care now.

Conclusions
Dr. Flood is professional, he washes his hands, uses gloves, and handles business
