I am 50 years old, and decided I didn't want to look 50. I went to Dr. Goldstien at Asheville Eye Associates. He performed an upper eyelid surgery. In this surgery, he removed the sagging part of my upper eyelid. The procedure took about 40 minutes. I was awake the entire time. To begin with, they put numbing drops in my eyes. Then, wiped my eyelids for sterlization purposes. The doctor then drew his cutting line. The finished shape was simular to drawing an eyebrow, both top and bottom. An injection of local anestesia was done, completely numbing my face from my cheekbone up. After waiting the required amount of time for the numbing to be 100%, a large "contact" was placed between my eyeball and my eyelid. This was the only uncomfortable part of the proceedure. He then proceeded to cut along his previously drawn pattern. He discarded the portion that he cut out, and caterized along the edges of where he cut. When finished, and assured that all bleeding had stopped. He then brought the upper and lower skin together, joining them with sturters that would go away in about a week. The results were instant! Of course, the next day would bring some swelling and bruising. But, by putting ice religiously on my eyes as he instructed, swelling and bruising were about 80% gone within seven days. At the end of two weeks, the scar had healed nicely, and is not seen when my eyes were open. It has now been about a month, I have a faint scar that is fading more and more each day.

Conclusions
An eyelide lift gives immediate results with minimim down time.
