I went to see Dr. Richard Glogau of San Francisco, regarding my recent hair loss/thinning hair. He did a brief visual exam of my hair, and asked me question about my medical and family history.

He then told me that my hair loss was caused by excess Androgen in my system. He gave me 5% Rogaine (the men's version, although I am female) to use, and told me that if that didn't work I would need to take Androgen-blocking medicine.

5% Rogaine made my hair fall out like crazy! I began doing some research of my own, and discovered that Androgen can only be detected by a BLOOD TEST. I then asked my regular doctor to test my Androgen levels, and they came back perfectly normal. That had not been my problem at all!

The topical medication suggested by Dr. Glogau only made my hair loss worse, and the prescription Androgen-blocking drug he refered to could actually have been danorous for me.

Conclusions
Careless doctor. Not recommended.
