Diet Tip: Eat less sugar, improve acne

submitted by Anonymous

I tested Dr. Nicholas Perricone's (book: The Clear Skin Prescription) theory on the relationship between diet and acne. Perricone believes that inflamation at the cellular level impairs the skin's natural ability to exfoliate properly, thus causing clogged pores and acne. The inflamation is caused by a diet high in sugar and deficient in nutrients. Several weeks ago, my acne was out of control. I'm a licensed aesthetician, so I only use high quality products, but nothing had any effect whatsoever. I stopped eating donuts on my lunch break at work and in 2 weeks I saw drastic improvement. I still use exfoliating products, but they actually work now because I've cut back on foods that are thought to cause retention keratosis and inflamation.
