Cosmetics / Makeup Tip: Mineral Makeup

submitted by Melody, Evergreen, AL USA

Tip description / details:
I have been thrilled to discover mineral makeup. I was dissatisfied with the cream/liquid foundations I was using as my skin always seemed like an oil slick by mid-day. I began using mineral makeup be a company called J. Lynn. I love this makeup. It gives me enough coverage to even out my skin tone but still looks very natural. There are close to 100 shades of just the foundation so you can choose one that is perfect for any skin tone. The also sell samples so you can try different shades for just a dollar or two. This is a powder foundation that you apply with a brush -though a damp sponge can be used. I also recently experimented with mixing it with my moisturizer for a tinted moisturizer.

Ingredients:

How to prepare:

How to use:
I like to apply the mineral makeup with a brush. I usually shake a small amount of the powder onto a piece of paper and then dip my brush into the powder. Next I knock the excess off of my brush and then use the brush to buff the powder into my skin. I use a smaller brush to apply the same power as a concealer to cover dark circles under eyes or brown spots then re-buff with larger brush. I follow this with a layer of powder to seal the makeup.

Results (observed by submitter):
I get great light-medium coverage using mineral makeup. My face does not get oily like it did with cream foundations. I have gotten a lot of compliments on my skin since I began wearing this makeup.

Costs involved:
$5 and up
