Cosmetics / Makeup Tip: Olive Oil for Makeup Removal

submitted by Cat Vairma, Coronado, CA USA

Tip description / details:
Easy and healthy waterproof mascara removal. I use waterproof mascara due to my physically demanding job so that I won't sweat it off. Removing it is easy when I use a few drops of extra-virgin olive oil. Olive oil is a natural anti-oxidant, is gentle to the skin, and doesn't contain any synthetic substances that may harm the skin. It breaks down the mascara for easy removal with a gentle soap and water.

Ingredients:
One bottle of extra-virgin olive oil.

How to prepare:
Simply open the bottle. I keep some in a small vial with an eye dropper for convenience.

How to use:
Apply a few drops of extra-virgin olive oil to finger tips, close eyes, and gently massage onto eyelashes until mascara is dissolved. Then wash off the residue with a mild soap and water.

Results (observed by submitter):
Mascara removal is easy. Cost is minimal. Side benefits are the anti-oxidants in the olive oil that come in contact with the skin. Results are great.

Costs involved:
$8.00 for one bottle
