Skin Care Tip: How to get and use salicylic acid

submitted by Michael J Sinclair, MD, Florida, FL USA

To get started on very inexpensive acne treatment, try going to Walgreen's and looking for a product called St Ives Apricot facial scrub. It has the maximum amount of salicylic acid available in an over the product, and it only costs $3.99 for a 6 ounce container. When you use it, try to put in on your face and leave it there for a few minutes. By leaving it in place, it has more time to loosen the superficial layer of skin (called the stratum corneum). This will help prevent plugging of the pores, which in turn will help prevent acne. After using it as described above, my acne got dramatically better within the first 2 weeks!
