Skin Care Tip: Wear full spectrum sunscreen daily

submitted by Michelle Graham, Oceanside, NY USA

Tip description / details:
Sunscreen 365 days a year is my tip. It is the most simple yet effective anti-aging treatment you could imagine. Get one that contains zinc oxide (now available as z-cote, which is clear instead of white), titanium dioxide, or avobenzone (also known as Parsol 1789) for full-spectrum protection. SPF is only part of the story - these 3 ingredients protect from the UVA rays, the ones that do the long-term damage. The label should say "UVA/UVB" or "full spectrum", or "broad spectrum". Some formulas have antioxidants in them, minerals, and hydrating ingredients. Awesome! In the summer, don't forget your arms and decollete if you wear short sleeves or tank tops. I am an esthetician and I urge all my clients to do this simple step every day.

How to prepare:

How to use:
Put sunscreen on last, after anything else you may be using. That is, if you use moisturizer, anti-aging serums, etc, do all that first, then sunscreen is the last layer. It's really convenient to get a moisturizer with sunscreen, so you don't have too many things on your face, especially if you are oily. Be aware that if you do this religiously, you may require more Vitamin D in your diet, or perhaps take a supplement, which is what I do.

Results (observed by submitter):
There are no instantaneous results from wearing sunscreen, but the long-term results are fabulous! I am 52 and no one comes close to guessing my age. I guess that could be considered great results.

Costs involved:
$6.00 and up
