Skin Care Tip: Scar reduction tip

submitted by Anonymous

To help soften and minimize scars from surgery or wounds, silicone sheets seem to be quite effective (for example, "Retouch" by Capital Marketing Technologies) when used at night for several days or weeks. Sheets can be worn for 2-3 hours, progressing to 8 hours a day after one week. The precise mechanism of action is unknown, but they have been in use for many years. The skin should be free from any lotions or oils prior to application. Vitamin E applied directly to scars also helps soften them but do not apply it together with the sheets.

As I used the sheets, I saw a noticeable reduction of a surgery scar on the bottom of my foot, which would otherwise have been very ugly. The Vitamin E continues to help soften the area.
