Skin Care Tip: Simple cleansing for sensitive and acne-prone skin

submitted by Mattie Walker, Vista, CA U.S.A

I have rosacea, and therefore my skin is sensitive. Many people with rosacea have irritation from soaps/cleansers. Unless I've got makeup on, I blot the oil from my face first with a few oil-blotting papers (NOT with any kind of coatings) and then I just gently wipe my skin with a disposable cotton pad I've put under running water. It gets my skin very clean. If I've got makeup on, I use a gentle cleanser like Purpose. This treatment is also very good for acne-prone skin, because I've heard that soap is not good for acne. Apparently, this has been stated in some medical journal articles. But whether you have rosacea and/or acne, be sure to treat the skin gently in the cotton pad washing process, because roughness can make both conditions worse.
