Skin Care Tip: Moisturizing with cotton

submitted by Kate, London, England

This method of preventing moisture loss is beneficial for dry skin but also problem skin, which requires skin treatments cream in question to absorb thoroughly. All you need for your upper body is an old t-shirt. For your face, an old clean piece of cotton or gauze which you are prepared to cut into to make a 'mask'.

Before going to bed, apply your usual moisturizer to upper body in plentiful amount and immediately put on cotton t-shirt. This prevents moisture loss during the night, so when you wake up skin looks more supple and moisture infused than when you went to bed. This is also useful for problem skin - the physical barrier of the t-shirt helps the cream to absorb more thoroughly. If your face is in need of help then the same principle applies, but in this case you cut out holes for your eyes, nose and mouth from the cotton and wear it overnight as a mask. I found it to be greatly beneficial for fresher, younger looking skin.

When my skin has been spot prone, I've found the pimples greatly reduced by morning. With dry skin, I've found my skin looks more moisturized and supple by morning.
