Skin Care Tip: Shea butter for softer feet and hands

submitted by A. Kucharski, Milwaukee, WI wi

Tip description / details:
To keep the hard to moisturize areas of my feet and cuticles I use whipped Shea Butter. I create my own whipped shea using Unrefined Shea butter and a light oil. Unrefined shea butter contains an abundance of healing ingredients, including vitamins, minerals, proteins and a unique fatty acid profile, and is a superior active moisturizer. In addition, shea butter has natural sunscreen properties and anti-inflammatory agents. For cuticles, I carry a small container with me and after washing my hands I rub a tiny bit into each cuticle. For the rough callus on the bottom of my feet, once a week I soak my feet in warm water and use a stone to exfoliate. After drying, I apply the whipped shea butter, sit back and relax for two minutes. After two minutes, I wipe any excess shea butter off and I am ready for bead

Ingredients:
70% Shea butter, 35% Meadowfoam Seed oil.

How to prepare:
Soften the Shea butter by heating it in Microwave, because microwaves vary in power start with 30 seconds and test by stirring with a wooden spoon. When the Shea butter is soft like room temp butter, add the oil. Use a hand mixer and whip the shea/oil mixture until light and fluffy. I usually whip between 2 and 4 minutes. Place in jar.

How to use:
Apply to bottom of feet after soaking them in warm water. Apply a small amount of whipped shea butter. After two minutes wipe off excess.

Results (observed by submitter):
Softens the hard callus on my feet.

Costs involved:
$7.00 per lb Shea Butter
