Homemade Skin Care Recipe: Gentle skin revitalizing with grapefruit, vaseline, and virgin olive oil

submitted by Anonymous

Tip description / details:
After trying alpha hydroxy acids, Vitamin C, and Retin A in an attempt to prevent my skin from aging, I developed severe skin irritations after about 4 months of using the various products. I went from product to product with always the same result - redness, puffiness, rashes, etc. My 90 year old grandmother finally offered some wise advice. 1) She uses Vaseline on her hands. She applies at any time and then wears gloves for at least 20 minutes. (She likes to use it on her face occasionally, but admits the greasiness is a problem on the face.) 2) Approximately three times a week she thinly slices a grapefruit, lays down with her feet up, and places the grapefruit slices on her face for approximately 20 minutes. 3) After the grapefruit routine, she then lightly applies virgin olive oil on her face. Although, her routine does not stop the aging process, her face always has a healthy glow, is soft, and never has any irritations. After using my grandmother's routine for the past 5 years, I have found that this routine has been my best skin care routine - it is cheap, easily accessible, healthy, and easy to do. Although my skin is aging, this routine has brought about a softer, gentler aging process.
