I purchased a travel size sampler of Proactiv the three steps (cleansing, toning, and moisture) to see if it was worth the money. I am in my late 20's with combination, sensitive skin, large pores, and occasional moderate breakouts. The problem I have with most acne treatments is that they dry my skin out so severely. I didn't care for the smell of the products, they were a bit strong and medicinal smelling for me and they seemed to burn my eyes a little bit if I got it too close. My skin also felt very tight after using the products together. I found that using all three together was a little too drying for my skin. I had to use trial and error to find a combination that worked well at taking care of the breakouts without causing dryness and flakiness. I ended up just using the cleanser daily with my own oil free moisturizer. I felt that this kept my skin clean without over drying. I only used the lotion when I saw a breakout starting. With regular use I rarely even needed the lotion. It really cleared my skin up and kept it clear. I is worth experimenting with to get the right combination.
