Skin Care Review: Skin Biology Protect and Restore

by Matthew, Vienna, Austria

I used Protect and Restore for 6 weeks. I am 30 years old and have normal but sunburned skin. This is a copper peptide cream from Skin Biology. When reading a little more closely I believe the website to be somewhat misleading although in fairness to this company all the information is there on their site to be read. They say that Copper Peptides have been shown to be more effective than Retin A on collagen synthesis however you would think that this means the copper peptides of this company. However the study which says this is in fact with a different form of copper peptide. There are no studies of Skin Biology products to support this claim.

I used Protect and Restore in the hope that it would reduce the fine wrinkling appearing in my skin as a consequence of a sunburn. Unfortunately the cream caused my skin to breakout. This is presented in the company information as a possibilty. They say this is due to the skin behaving more like a younger persons. However the pimples persisted for the duration of my using the product. I have subsequently stopped using it. I found it to be alittle thick to apply given that only a little is necessary. My pimples have gone now that I have stopped. I wish I could use this product for long enough to see its effect however this was not possible.

I also wish that more reliable scientific studies would be used by cosmetic companies to back up their claims. I also wish that the government would make cosmetic companies prove their claims by such studies.
