Skin Care Review: MAMA Lotion by Esthetic Enterprises

by Kristine Koch, Des Moines, IA USA

Rating
Good

Benefits
Dried oily skin, decreased pore size

Drawbacks
Can cause overdry skin

Details
I have used M.D. Forte Facial Cream III for years, but even though I am 50 years old, my face tends to be oily in the T-zone and the M.D. Forte Cream was just not addressing this problem. I love the M.D. Forte Cream and credit it for a lot of the compliments I get on my skin (that plus using lots of sunscreen), but I was looking for something that would reduce the size of the pores around my nose as foundation would settle into this area and look unattractive. And if the MaMa Lotion could help reduce wrinkles, that would be great! MaMa Lotion contains mandelic acid and malic acid (different AHA than M.D. Forte).

A little goes a long way with MaMa Lotion, as I found out. Do follow instructions and work your way up to a usage schedule that suits your skin. I thought that since I was already using a 30% AHA cream that I could skip to an everyday usage routine with the MaMa Lotion. Wrong. My skin became very dry and flaky. So I backed off for a couple of days to let my skin rest and started over with a more cautious approach.

I don't think that anyone with dry skin could use this product on a regular basis without a lot of moisturizers. However, for me it was just what I wanted! My pore size around my nose has decreased and the oiliness has been reduced so that my makeup lasts longer and I have less shine. I have used the lotion for about a month and have not seen any difference in wrinkle appearance, probably because I was already using a 30% AHA cream. MaMa Lotion is supposed to be effective in treating hyperpigmentation. Again, I have spots along my neck, but in one month, I can't see much difference.

If you have large pores and oily skin, this lotion could become your AHA of choice.

Conclusions
Great in reducing oily skin and large pores. Stings a bit like other AHAs.
