Skin Care Review: Bare Escentuals Bareminerals

by Karen

Rating
Good

Benefits
Nautral light coverage, fool-proof colour

Drawbacks
light coverage, may not cover ALL

Details
I have started using this product recently, but I am really liking it. I have oily/combination skin, and rarely ever wore makeup unless it was for some occasion, or a need to make a really good impression, but I would use these everyday. I wanted a powder, beause liquids are not too useful on oily skin, but I also wanted an SPF. That's why I chose this product, but I have found it so easy to use (especially for a person who usually finds makeup application a pain). The colours allow for a lot of range, so I can use the same colours all year round, even when I've gotten my most tanned. It also saved me on concealer, because the concealer brush with the regular bareminerals foundation covers up my occasional breakouts or red spots. The foundation itself doesn't look too impressive (more even though), but with the warmth on top, it looks fantastic. That alone would be enough, but for a little more colour the glee makes a good natural looking blush. I love the non-makeup look of the whole thing (since I don't really like the look of typical makeup). To really make it work, you have to start with a moisturizer, but I like that I can use a really light no-frills oil-free moisturizer under it instead of a heavier SPF moisturizer. I bought this in Sephora, which I think is a much better idea than online, because the colours are misleading, and the salesperson not only found the right one but showed me some tricks, do's and don'ts, which may be the the problem for some of the bad reviews I've read about the bad coverage. I have not had any reactions to the formula, and presumably the allergic reactions some people have mentioned are personal problems, not everyone would have them. Going into a store to buy, and testing it on a small section would eliminate that concern. Like all things it just requires a little research into ingrediants (for known allergies) or testing (but then I'm not usually a fan of online ordering) This is an excellenct light, healthy product, it last a long time. The kits including foundations, warmth, mineral veil, and all the brushes you need were an amazing value, and great for a relative makeup beginner like me

Conclusions
Good natural Coverage. Fool-proof colour. "Warmth" adds great colour to skin
