Before dying your hair with an at home hair color kit, outline your skin on your face, all around the edge of your skin around the hairline with Petroleum Jelly. The Petroleum jelly may be a little messy, so use sparingly, but it will be well worth the results of not staining your skin. Also, your skin may not become as irritated from the chemicals in the hair dye. After you rinse your hair for the last time, gently wipe away excess jelly and -- no skin staining!
