Hair Care Tip: Low-Cost Hot Oil Conditioner

submitted by JoAnne, CA USA

Tip description / details:
About once a month, I comb coconut oil into my hair, put it up, and let it soak in for about 30 minutes. Then I take a shower and wash and condition my hair as usual. Sometimes (but not always), I heat the oil up in a small dish in the microwave before starting. If you have very long hair (as I do), you might try doing this more frequently on the ends only. Sometimes I just dip the ends into the dish of oil.

Ingredients:
Coconut Oil

How to prepare:
Warm oil with hands or heat in a small dish in the microwave. If heating in the microwave, be sure to use caution, as the oil will get very hot very quickly!

How to use:
Comb through hair.

Results (observed by submitter):
This treatment really helps to moisturize the ends of my long hair, and it is a lot cheaper than "hot oil" treatments sold at the drug store.

Costs involved:
Purchase of Coconut Oil
