Hair Care Tip: Emergency hair spray setting lotion

submitted by Lana, Tucson, AZ USA

Tip description / details:
If you are without hairspray (or setting lotion) and need some in a pinch, the juice of a lemon will work to hold a style , and make your hair very shiny.

Ingredients:
The juice of one lemon, pump spray bottle (fine spray mist the best).

How to prepare:
Strain the juice of a lemon to a pump spray bottle. That's it!

How to use:
Spray lightly and allow to dry before reapplying. For setting lotion, use the strained lemon juice on damp hair before setting.

Results (observed by submitter):
Decent hold and a lot of shine. Lemon juice can also lighten your hair, but tends to be drying. So this shouldn't be used on a continuing basis. Another tip. Beer used as a hair rinse will also make hair shine.

Costs involved:
minimal
