Self-Improvement Tip: Helpful ways to overcome emotional pitfalls

submitted by Anonymous

I would highly recommend people read the following books: The Power of Now, The Five Things We Cannot Change: and the Happiness we find by embracing them, and ACT Therapy workbook by Stephen C Hayes. All of these books emphasize a similar theme of accepting rather than avoiding emotional pains that we encounter in life. They also emphasize a focus on the present moment, and a recognition that our thoughts are only thoughts and are not really who we are. Recognizing a thought (such as "I'm not good enough") is really just a thought in the moment and these books will help you view them as such and not associate ourselves with our thoughts.

I got an increased sense of independence and ability to rely on myself in crises and daily living. This in turn makes me more confident and a better partner in all relationships.
