Skin Care Tip: Lemon juice for skin lightening

submitted by Amy, Melbourne, Australia

Tip description / details:
Using a good quality organic lemon juice as a skin lightener is a tried and true method of lightening your skin and getting rid of freckles. It's natural so you know what's in it. It's plant-based (as opposed to mineral or synthetic) so it won't block your pores. And it's cheap and easy to use. However, it is highly astringent which means it'll dry out your skin, so be sure to follow with a good rich moisturizer.

Ingredients:
fresh lemon juice, moisturizer

How to prepare:
Squeeze a few drops of fresh lemon juice

How to use:
Use sparingly - a few drops for your face. Avoid the eye area. Moisturize afterwards, but wait for the juice to fully absorb first.

Results (observed by submitter):
Works for me.

Costs involved:
low
