Skin Care Tip: Olive Oil for the skin

submitted by Ruth, CO USA

Tip description / details:
I have found great success in using a skin care regime patterned after what I used to see my (Italian) grandmother do. I was reminded of her skin care by a brochure from DHC products. To cleanse, I put about 10 drops of pure olive oil in my hand, rub hands together to warm it, and then gently massage face and neck. Then I use a very mild, high quality soap to wash. Next, a mild toner to remove all traces of oil and soap. At night, I finish with about 3 drops of olive oil as a moisturizer. To make the olive oil more spreadable as a moisturizer, I put it in the palm of my hand and spray it a with spritz of rose water. Rub hands together and pat on face and neck. For daytime, I use a sunscreen for face instead of the olive oil moisturizer. It's very sunny here in Colorado and I can easily burn in any month of the year without sunscreen. I use the best Olive oil I can buy (right now, I am using Nunez de Prado purchased from a gourmet cooking store). About three months ago, I saw that DHC started carrying this same brand for cooking and eating (it is delicious!). I wonder if DHC's products are a refined version of this oil? It's not a very expensive way to care for your skin and I think my skin has looked as good as it did on more expensive programs.
