Skin Care Tip: Cure for dry skin on hands and feet

submitted by Lisa Fitz, Brooklyn, NY USA

Tip description / details:
I know many expensive products contain a lot of high quality moisturizers, but the one product I find to be most effective is pure and natural shea butter. You may have seen shea butter listed as an ingredient in some expensive moisturizers, but the product only contains some shea butter and the butter may have been chemically altered. I suggest you purchase the pure shea butter from a local merchant. Pure shea butter typically costs only $5.00 for a rather large (1/2 or 1 pound) container in certain sections of New York City. Many merchants around Atlantic Ave in Downtown Brooklyn have an abundant supply of this all-natural moisturizer. Some claim shea butter is a cure for a multitude of aliments and afflictions such as eczema, acne, arthritis, etc., but I tout its use for healing rough, dry skin.

Ingredients:

How to prepare:

How to use:
Shea butter can be rather oily, so it is best used during the cold winter months when skin is typically at its driest. Slather some of the product over your heels or hands at night just before bedtime. Take some cotton socks and gently cover your feet. Socks may also be used for your hands if you do not have a pair of cotton mittens to wear to bed. The oil from the shea nut will penetrate your skin overnight and come morning, you should actually feel the difference.

Results (observed by submitter):
Used over a period of 5 to 7 days, I actually noticed a huge difference in the roughness around my heels and my hands are definitely much smoother. Don't buy those high-priced moisturizers found in Department stores. Try this tried and true home remedy for smooth supple skin.

Costs involved:
$5.00
