Homemade Skin Care Recipe: Relief for stressed or damaged skin with fresh Aloe vera

submitted by Kathryn Bishburg, Highland Park, NJ USA

Tip description / details:
In our home growing up, we always had aloe vera cactus. My plants are now third generation. Few people know that the active ingredients in aloe vera gel are often destroyed in the shipment and/or processing of the lotion/gel. Many products listing aloe vera provide little of the active ingredients. I learned to just break off a piece of stem, peel and apply the gel to the face. it feels sticky but the next morning, your face is soft and glowing. This is especially good for sunburn or irritation. Chill first!

Ingredients:
Aloe vera

How to prepare:
Break off a large piece of cactus stem, peel. Apply directly or gently mash.

How to use:
Apply directly to skin at bedtime. Do not wash off until morning

Results (observed by submitter):
Excellent relief of wind burned skin. Soft, moisturized skin when used regularly

Costs involved:
minimal
